OLLY HOUSE

2020completed
Location: JakartaSize: 600 m2 / 650 m2Type: House

A three-storey modern contemporary house located in the south of Jakarta belonged to a young Riau figure named Muhammad Aulia and he was the oasis for his family. The design concept of this house was interlacing house. Interlacing was interpreted as the usage of cut mass to create gaps within the masses. The interlace concept then was strengthen with a unique front façade in a 60 degrees fault element at the 2nd level as the ending of the cut mass design on the building. The gaps and faults then were added with greenery design element and also functioned as an open view combined with planter box as planting media around the building for the infiltration effect between the outdoor and indoor visual of the house.

We had also put into consideration about the current re-existing flooding issue in Jakarta with the concept of lifting the house from the ground level with a holistic design approach towards the entrance of the house. With the house located at the hook and facing north and west which made it extremely exposed to direct sunlight most of the day, the west part of the house was designed in a special way. The building mass on the west was lifted with the pilotis concept and a swimming pool was put below it for which both could be functioned as a sun buffer. The pilotis served as canopy and swimming pool helped to decrease the heat. This side was also given a garden with green trees as the shadow element and elevated the visual quality of the indoor and outdoor area.
