The design concept of the house was “cantilever canopy house”. The idea was inspired by the desire to create one unique element of design to the not so large piece of land. The cantilever canopy was stretched 5-meter and lengthen 6-meter in the front of the house. The combination of planter box and finishing with synthetic rattan created a tropical and natural visual façade quality in the front added to the “genting’ effect on the cantilever.
On the same note of the exterior concept, the interior design offered a simple and neat arrangement of rooms, also a wide innercourt on the east side of the building gave enough sunlight and natural air circulation into the house. The choice of material and finishing was dominated with white combined with woody element to add to the texture of the interior and created a warmth feel to the interior of the house.
The unique element of the interior of this house was the staircase. The cantilever concept was also implemented in every staircase. The dagger shaped cantilever with thin blade at the end along 1-meter embraced the quality of “genting’ to the stairs.
